A Research Approach for Naturalistic Philosophy of Information Based on Objective Information
摘要
Abstract
[Purpose/Significance]The study of naturalistic philosophy of information not only contributes to the development of unified information science, but also provides solutions for the naturalization of intentionality and intelligence. And the mutual reference and fusion of different naturalistic research approaches for philosophy of information contribute to the enhancement of such direction. [ Method/Process]This article adopts antitheses to illustrate the potentiality and value of mutual reference and fusion between Fred Dretske and Wu Kun's naturalistic philosophy of information. Primarily, the first three sections introduce Dretske's standpoint from the perspectives of ob﹣jective information, information semantics and epistemology and the similarities and differences of his theory with Wu's basic propositions. Then, the following fourth section points out that they reach the same goal by different means through comparing their core theories,″the levels of intentionality″ and ″the classification of information″. After that, the fifth section summarizes the similarities and differences of their theories in detail. At last, the sixth section reiterates the value of the comparative study. [Result/Conclusion]We find out that their theories emphasize the fundamental role of objective information from epistemology and ontology respectively, which allows them to share strong complementary features and have the potential to merge into a naturalistic research approach for philosophy of information based on objective information.关键词
