Optimization of supercritical water oxidation of high salinity wastewater using response surface methodology

Abstract
High salinity wastewater was generally characterized with high concentration of salt and organic contaminants. It became a difficult problem for industrial wastewater treatment. The process of supercritical water oxidation (SCWO) for high salinity wastewater treatment was optimized using response surface methodology (RSM) . The effects of temperature, pressure and reaction time on removal efficiency of total dissolved solids (TDS) were investigated. A quadratic polynomial mathematical model between TDS removal rate and various factors was established. It was concluded that the order of influence of each factor on TDS removal rate was pressure> temperature> reaction time. The TDS removal rate of wastewater reached 93.69% under the conditions of temperature 480 ℃, pressure 22 MPa and reaction time 50 s.关键词
