Structural Damage Identification using Model Updating Method based on Frequency Response Functions

Abstract
For the problem of incomplete measurement data in model updating, a new model updating method based on frequency response function and structural damage identification is proposed. Firstly, the sensitivity equation of the frequency response function is established by perturbation analysis, and the frequency range is selected according to the sensitivity of structural response to parameter changes and the effect of damping on the amplitude. Then, the frequency response functions at the unmeasured nodes of the damaged structure are reconstructed using the frequency response function of the intact structure and the measured inherent frequency of the damaged structure. Finally, the optimal sensor placement method suitable to model updating is studied to determine the sensor number and locations so as to provide the required frequency response data for the model updating. The numerical model test shows that using the frequency response data provided by a small number of sensors can identify the location and the severity of the damage, and obtain the updated results consistent with the actual structural parameters.关键词
