Abstract

In order to reduce the noise of refrigerator compressors in operation, the noise spectrum test and sound source identification of a compressor under five different conditions are carried out. It is shown that the aerodynamic noise is the main noise source, the mechanical noise is the secondary noise source, and the electromagnetic noise has little effect on the compressor. The aerodynamic noise has the characteristic of broadband distribution, which is caused by airflow fluctuation and airflow injection noises from the exhaust pipe. The peak frequency of the noise is 2 000 Hz, corresponding to the noise value of 49.3 dB (A). In addition, the compressor excitation frequency causes low frequency vibration of the exhaust pipe. According to the analysis results, some improvement methods, such as installing muffler and damping spring on the exhaust pipe and so on, are proposed. Compared with the test results before the improvement, the peak noise at 2 000 Hz is reduced by 13.8 dB(A) and the overall compressor noise is reduced by 1.83 dB(A).
