Abstract

In the one-way coupling between discrete element and finite element, the particle load obtained by discrete element simulation needs to be transformed into the finite element model. Based on Saint-Venant's principle, a transformation algorithm is presented. Assuming that the pressure is linearly distributed, the contact force of particles can be equivalently converted into gradual pressure and applied to the finite element model. The results show that the gradual load loading method can reasonably reflect the distribution of particle load, and can take the overall stress into consideration, which is consistent with the actual situation.
