摘要

Abstract

Objective To analyze the positive ratio of breast cancer stem cells marker CD44/CD24 and acetaldehyde dehydrogenase 1 (ALDH1) and their correlation. Methods Four cases of breast cancer metastatic pleural effusion and eight breast cancer cell lines were collected and cultured, and then stained with two breast cancer stem cell markers (CD44/CD24 and ALDH1). The ratios of CD44+CD24-and ALDH1+subpopulation were detected by flow cytometry, and the correlation between two markers was analyzed.Results The ratios of CD44+CD24-subpopulation in 2 of 8 breast cancer cell lines were higher than 85%, while the ratios in the rest cell lines were below 5%. The ratio of ALDH1+subpopulation was relatively low, from 0. 98% to 25. 2%. In 4 cases of pleural effusion, the proportion of CD44+CD24-subpopulation was high in total, however, the ratio of ALDH1+subpopulation fluctuated greatly.And there was no significant correlation between the expression of CD44/CD24 and ALDH1 (r =-0. 168 3, P = 0. 383). Furthermore, the ratio of CD44+CD24-subpopulation in ALDH1+, ALDH1-and unlabeled cells showed no difference. Conclusion The expression of CD44/CD24 and ALDH1 in breast cancer cell is independent and there is no correlation between them.
