Abstract

In order to investigate intestinal parasitic infections in sheep and goats, conventional measure methods were adopted to survey the intestinal parasitic infection situation of 7 sheep farms and 10 goats scale farms in Anhui Province and the part regions of Henan, Jiangsu and Shandong Provinces. A total of 1 613 samples of fresh feces (832 sheep and 781 goats) were examined. The results showed that 887 fecal samples were positive for parasites, and the total infection rate of intestinal parasites was 54.99% (including 47.60% in sheep and 62.87% in goats). Among them, the Coccidium and Amoeba were dominant in sheep with the infection rates of 22.60% (188/832) and 17.55% (146/832), respectively; the Coccidium and Strongylus spp. were dominant in goats with the infection rates of 32.39% (253/781) and 37.39% (292/781), respectively. Most of which were mixed infections, and the infection intensity was also larger. The most common infection in sheep was the mixture of Coccidia and Amoeba with the mixed infection rate of 33.63% (38/113). The most common infection in goat was the mixture of Coccidia and Strongylus spp. with the mixed infection rate of 51.72% (120/234). The Coccidian and Strongylus spp. were found with the largest infection intensity, with the OPG (EPG) reaching to 1 020 and 3 640, respectively. The results showed that the intestinal parasitic infection of sheep and goats in Anhui and neighboring provinces is more common, and comprehensive prevention and control measures should be strengthened.
