Study of Energy Conversion Efficiency of Electromagnetic Repulsion Mechanism

Abstract
In this paper, Thomson coil actuator is presented, and the finite element method is used to research the energy conversion process of electromagnetic repulsion mechanism. It also analyses the proportion of each energy including coil resistance loss, eddy current loss and kinetic energy of metal plate, and summarizes the law of influence. According to the analysis results of energy conversion process, this paper proposes an improved conducting plate structure, 'copper-aluminum' composite metal plate. Through simulation analysis and test verification, it is concluded that the coil resistance loss and the eddy current loss of the metal plate are the major energy losses. Thomson coil actuator with composite metal plate can effectively improve driving speed and energy conversion efficiency.关键词
