Research Progress on Regulatory Effect and Mechanism of Chitooligosaccharides on Immunity and Inflammation in Animals

Abstract
Chitosan oligosaccharides (COS) is a D-glucosamine oligomer linked by β-1, 4 glucosidic linkages that can be deacetylated and hydrolyzed by exoskeletons of arthropods and insects and chitin in fungal cell walls.COS represents a class of natural polymers that not only have physicochemical properties such as water solubility and low viscosity, but also have good pharmacological effects and safety as well as a variety of beneficial biological activities such as anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, immune stimulating, anti-microorganisms, anti-tumor, promote tissue regeneration, enhance drug and DNA transmission and enhance calcium absorption.The mechanism of COS involved in a number of important signaling pathways, including the inhibition of nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and activation of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) .This article summarizes the recent progress of COS on the regulation of immune and inflammation in animal body and its mechanism, and discusses the future research directions.关键词
