Abstract

High-temperature electrostatic precipitation can achieve high efficiency of high-temperature gas dust removal, and can be of benefit to use the sensible heat, latent heat and useful resources in gas effectively. Consequently, we analyzed the influences of temperature, atmosphere, discharge electrode form, the material, and dust characteristics on high temperature electrostatic precipitator. The analysis results show that: 1) With the increase of temperature, the discharge current increases, the operating voltage range decreases, and the resistance of dust increases firstly and then decreases (the maximum value is about 100~200 ℃), so the collection efficiency decreases. 2) The collection efficiency depends on the mobility of ions in the negative gas, and non-electronegative gas does not adsorb electrons to form negative ions, which will affect the dust charging. 3) Different discharge electrode forms and materials have different application conditions, and various factors such as temperature should be taken into account in the selection of cathode. 4) The contents of alkali metal, C, S and other components in dust will affect the dust removal effect, and the dust removal efficiency will increase with the increase of dust concentration in a certain range. In addition, we introduced the application of high temperature electrostatic precipitator to purify phosphorus furnace gas, glass furnace flue gas and pyrolysis or gasification gas. Some problems about high temperature electrostatic precipitator should be solved, for example, it is still necessary to research the microscopic mechanism of dust removal, develop new forms of cathodes or materials suitable for high temperature environments, explore the characteristics of discharge and dust removal under complex atmosphere, and solve problems that collection efficiency decreases and insulator performance declines under high temperature.
