Abstract

Objective To further improve the correlation between ApoE gene and atherosclerotic cerebral infarction by analyzing the relationship between ApoE gene and blood lipid and carotid atherosclerosis in patients with atherosclerotic cerebral infarction. Methods A case-control study was conducted to collect 76 patients with ischemic stroke and 63 non-ischemic stroke hospitalized patients who were admitted to the Department of Neurology, the First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University. The patient ' s ApoE genotype and carotid atherosclerosis were determined. Results Compared with E2/E3, genotypes E3/E3 and E3/E4 may be protective factors for ischemic stroke. Plasma levels of TC, LDL-C and ApoB in patients with ischemic and non-ischemic stroke were E3/E4>E3/E3>E2/E3, plasma LDL-C concentration in patients with ischemic stroke was significantly different between E3/E4 and E2/E3, E3/E3; LDL-C and ApoB are related to the degree of carotid atherosclerotic plaque in patients with ischemic stroke, which is a risk factor; HDL-C is its protective factor. Compared with stable plaques, the unstable plaque group had a higher proportion of atherosclerotic cerebral infarction. Compared with genotype E3/E3, E3/E4 was higher in the stable plaque group than in the thickened group. Conclusion Genotypes E3/E3 and E3/E4 may be protective factors for ischemic stroke. Genotype E3/E4 may be a risk factor for carotid atherosclerotic plaque formation in patients with atherosclerotic cerebral infarction. Genotype E3/E4 further leads to atherosclerotic plaque by affecting plasma LDL-C levels in patients. The formation of the correlation with atherosclerotic cerebral infarction remains to be further studied in larger sample sizes.
