Abstract
Objective:To investigate psychosocial problems in patients with chronic periodontitis, and analyze the correlation with the severity of the disease. Methods:A total of 220patients with chronic periodontitis (observation group, including 66mild cases, 93moderate cases and 61severe cases) and 100healthy persons (control group) were given periodontal examination and were evaluated with the Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), the Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS) and the Life Events Scale (LES).Partial correlation analysis was performed to analyze the correlation of SAS, SDS and LES with the periodontal pocket depth (PD), calculus index (CI) and clinical attachment loss (CAL).Results:There were significant differences between groups in PD, CI, CAL, SAS score, SDS score, negative life stimulating quantity and the total life event stimulating quantity (F=23.685, 8.580, 38.697, 12.320, 11.462, 13.671, 10.734;P<0.05).Partial correlation analysis showed that scores of SAS, SDS and LES were positively correlated with CAL (r=0.433, 0.481, 0.514;P<0.05), and the SDS score was positively correlated with CI (r=0.450, P<0.05).Conclusion:Patients with chronic periodontitis are prone to having anxiety, depression, negative life events and other psychosocial problems, which is related to the occurrence and severity of periodontitis.关键词
