摘要

Abstract

Objective:To investigate the changes in brain white matter volume in patients with major depression diagnosed by head MRI, and analyze the correlation between them and cognitive impairment.Methods:A total of 80patients with major depression (study group) and 30healthy volunteers (healthy group) who were admitted to our hospital during the period from January 2014to January 2017were enrolled in this study.Scores of Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD-17) were compared between the two groups, and the two groups were given neuropsychological tests (Wisconsin Card Sorting Test, Connection Test) and head MRI examination.The fractional anisotropy (FA) values of brain white matter in the two groups were observed, and the correlation between changes in white matter volume and cognitive impairment was discussed.Results:The HAMD-17score of the study group was significantly higher than that of the healthy group (t=30.429, P<0.01) .CT and categories of the study group were significantly lower than those of the healthy group (t=-4.729, -2.953;P<0.01) , while TE, PE, RE, Connection Test-A and Connection Test-B time required were significantly higher/longer than those in the healthy group (t=4.365, 2.721, 2.151, 2.087, 2.205;P<0.01) .Compared with the healthy group, the study group showed significantly decreased FA values in multiple brain regions (P<0.01) .FA values of left precentral gyrus and left hypothalamus region were significantly positively correlated with the CT number in neuropsychological tests (r=0.408, 0.395;P<0.01) , while there was no significant correlation between FA values of other abnormal brain regions and psychological test scales (P>0.05) .Conclusion:Head MRI can clearly diagnose changes in brain white matter volume in patients with severe depression, and change in brain white matter volume is significantly correlated with cognitive impairment.
