Abstract
Objective To investigate the efficacy of modified offending vessel suspension technique in microvascular decompression (MVD) for hemifacial spasm. Methods The clinical data of 18 patients with hemifacial spasm underwent MVD using the modified offending vessel suspension technique, were analyzed retropectively. All patients were followed up for 6 months.Surgical effect and postoperative complications were recorded and analyzed. Results The curative rate was 94. 4％ (17/18) and partial remission rate was 5. 6％ (1/18) after 6-month follow-up.Total effective rate was 100％. Transientfacial palsy occurred in 3 patients and was cured during the follow-up period. Other postoperative complications including hearing impairment, dysphagia, bucking and hoarseness were not found. There was no recurrent case. Conclusions The modified offending vessel suspension technique is effective and safe. This method is easily applied, reversible and with little damage. It is also a supplement to traditional MVD.关键词
