Abstract

By using alternative transcription start site, alternative splicing and alternative polyadenylation, eukaryotic genes produce multiple transcript isoforms.The translation efficiency of each transcript is sometimes different, leading to complex relationship between transcript diversity and protein products.We systematically compared the translatome sequencing data of the early embryo of Drosophila with the corresponding transcriptome sequencing data, revealing the difference between the transcript composition of different cellular compartments.Through the analysis of the transcriptome and translatome data, we found 766 genes whose relative transcript isoform abundance changed between different cellular compartments in Drosophila, indicating that different transcripts of many genes in Drosophila may have very different translation efficiency.
