Abstract

Magnetic signal attenuation by the probe lift-off may lead to misjudgment on stress concentration.On offshore platforms, the probe lift-off is caused by the coating of the ferromagnetic components.To solve this problem, the magnetic memory analysis method for stress concentration under different lift-off values was studied.Firstly, the magnetic signals of the specimens of lift-off values of 0, 0.5, 1, 2, 3, 4and 5mm were collected respectively.Secondly, the adaptive wavelet threshold denoising was used to improve the signal-tonoise ratio of the magnetic signals.The dissimilarity of the magnetic signals was eliminated through the signal similarity.Finally, the gradient and phase locus of the magnetic signals were analyzed.The result showed that if the stress concentration could not be identified by the gradient under a large lift-off value;and both the ratio mof gradient value to the average gradient value and the phase locus could be used to assist the identification.A magnetic memory analysis method under different lift-off values was proposed.The application on an offshore platform in the Bohai sea of China verified the feasibility of this method.
