摘要

Abstract

Objective:To study the feasibility of bilaterla flashlight imaging technique for color comparison of maxillary central incisors and to understand the color difference between left and right maxillary central incisors in young people.Methods:Digital photographs of the maxillary central incisors of 155 volunteers were taken by digital camera and bilateral flash.Computer software was used to measure the L * (lightness),a * (red-green) and b * (yellow-blue) color coordinates of each tooth in a photograph.The intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC) of reliability was used to compare the color coordinates between the two images of each right maxillary central incisor to test the consistency of this technique.Paired sample t test was used for statistical analysis of L *,a * and b * values of left and right maxillary central incisors,so as to compare the color differences of left and right maxillary central incisors.Results:The ICC test values of L *,a * and b * were within an excellent reliability range (0.75-1.00).The a * coordinate (red-green chromaticity) of left and right maxillary central incisors was significantly different in the incisal region,middle region and cervical region,and the L * coordinate (brightness) was significantly different only in the incisal region of the maxillary central incisors on both sides,and the b * coordinate (yellow-blue chromaticity) was significantly different only in the cervical region of the maxillary central incisors on both sides.Conclusion:Using the bilateral flashlight imaging technique produces a consistent results in the process of tooth color measurement.In young people,the color of the upper central incisors is not the same on both sides.
