Abstract
Objective To investigate the effects of individualized health education on self-management ability in older pa-tients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Methods 96 COPD patients discharged from our hospital after treatment randomly divided into the control group and the observation group. The control group was given routine health education intervention. The observation group was given individualized health education and nursing intervention on the basis of the control group. Before and 3 months after the intervention, self-care cognition scale, self-perceived burden scale, COPD self-efficacy scale and COPD qual-ity of life questionnaire were conducted to evaluate the corresponding management ability of patients in the two groups. Results After 3 months of intervention, the scores of self-care cognition scale and COPD self-efficacy scale in the observation group were signifi-cantly higher than those before intervention (P<0.05), and significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). Scores of self-perceived burden scale and COPD quality of life questionnaire were significantly lower than before intervention ( P<0.05), and significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion The individualized health education intervention may enhance self-care ability, reduce self-perceived burden, improve self-efficacy and quality of life in older patients with COPD.关键词
