Equivalent Circuit Model of Soft Starter Based on Power Electronic Reactor

Abstract
There is too large starting current when high-voltage large motors start up direct-on line,it will cause many damages. In order to solve these problems,a soft starting method which adopted power electronic reactor in its main circuit was designed. The working principle of high-voltage motors′soft starter based on the power electronic reactor was analyzed. It was required to establish the equivalent-circuit model of power electronic reactor to research its reactance conversion mechanism. The simulation model of high-voltage motor was established using Matlab ,andthe simulations of direct starting and soft starting process were carried out. A high-voltage motor soft starter was successfully designed and used in soft starting of a 19 000 kW motor. The experimental results show that it can help the high-voltage motor start smoothly and has many characteristics such as low starting current,little impact on grid and high performance.关键词
