Abstract

Objective To analyze the relationship between the different specimens of Epstein-Barr virus(EBV)DNA in children and the expression of EBV DNA during the period of EB infection and incubation .Methods 56 cases of children with EB infection-associated infectious mononucleosis(IM) diagnosed in our hospital from January, 2017 to June, 2018 and 42 cases in the incubation period after EBV infection were reviewed. PCR detection of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) and plasma EBV DNA levels in the two groups were compared. Results The positive rate of PBMC EBV DNA was 96.43% in the IM group and was 61.90% in the former infection group. Of the same patient, the positive rate of EBV DNA in PBMC was 62.00%in the previous infection group. The positive rate of plasma EBV DNA in the IM group was 64.29%, while only 3 cases in the latent group were positive. After log10 quantitative analysis, PBMC EBV DNA was higher than plasma EBV DNA, and the difference was statistically significant. The expression of PBMC EBV DNA in the IM group was higher than that in the post-infection latent group, and the difference was statistically significant. Conclusions The qualitative results of PBMC EBV DNA and plasma EBV DNA are less consistent, but correlated. Plasma EBV DNA expression is an indicator of EB virus motility.
