Abstract
Objective To compare the effects of different doses of levetiracetam on electroencephalogram and cognitive function in patients with initial epilepsy,and to explore the optimum dose of levetiracetam in the treatment of patients with initial epilepsy.Methods 105 patients with initial epilepsy were selected and divided into group A,group B,and group C with informed consent.The initial doses of levetiracetam were 500 mg/d,750 mg/d,and 1 000 mg/d.The changes in EEG,cognitive function scores,and adverse events during treatment in each group were compared.Results After 3 months of treatment,the electroencephalogram and cognitive function score of the patients in each group improved to some extent.However,the improvement of group B and group C was more significant than that of group A (P＜0.05).There was no statistically significant difference between group B and group C (P＞0.05).EEG and cognitive function score of patients in each group continued to improve after 6 months of treatment,and the improvement of group B and group C was still more significant than that of group A (P＜0.05),there was no statistically significant difference between group B and group C (P＞0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between group A and group B after 3 months of treatment (P＞0.05),but that in group C was significantly higher than those in group A and group B (P＜0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions decreased in all groups after 6 months of treatment,there was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions among group A,group B,and group C (P＞0.05).Conclusion 750 mg/d initial dose of LEV is recommended for the treatment of patients with initial epilepsy,which can improve the clinical efficacy while minimizing the occurrence of adverse reactions.关键词
