摘要

Abstract

Present study was performed to determine the effects of humic acid (HA ) on the seed germination and seedling growth of millet under drought stresses .[Methods]In this study ,foxtail millet seeds of cultivar‘Jingu 21’ and‘Zhangza 10’ were selected and the effects of HA were determined by soaking the seeds into HA solutions at dif‐ferent concentrations of 50 ,100 ,200 ,300 ,and 400 mg·L -1 under simulated drought stress condition with 18% PEG‐6000 .[Results] T he results showed that seed germination and seedling grow th of foxtail millet were significantly in‐hibited by drought stress .However ,seed treatment with HA at 50~300 mg·L -1 significantly improved the germina‐tion potential ,activity index ,shoot length ,and root length of two varieties ,and the drought resistance indexes of‘Zhangza 10’ were significantly promoted.The comprehensive evaluation of multiple indexes by the membership func‐tion indicated that the optimal HA concentration to promote seed germination was 100 mg·L -1 .[Conclusion ] The suitable concentration of HA could significantly promote the seed germination rate and seedling grow th of millet under drought stress ,effectively alleviate the damage caused by drought stress and enhance the drought resistance of millet .
