Dynamics of dry matter and nitrogen distribution in tomato plants under different nitrogen application rates during autumn and winter in greenhouse

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analyze dynamics of dry matter and nitrogen (N ) accumulation of tomato planted in the greenhouse during autumn and winter and treated with differentnitrogen application rates .[Methods]Solanumlycopersicum cv .Fenbeili was selected as experimental material ,and the experiments were conduc‐ted in two plots sized to investigate the dynamics of dry matter and N accumulation of tomato under five N application rates( 0 ,100 ,200 ,300 ,and 400 kg·hm -2 in 2016 and 0 ,90 ,180 ,270 ,and 360 kg·hm -2 in 2017).[Results] The results showed that the amount of both dry matter and N accumulation as well as their average accumulation rate (V mean ) were all increased with the increase of N application rates and peaked at 300 kg·hm -2 in 2016 and 270 kg·hm -2 in 2017 .V mean of dry matter accumulation were determined as 1.64 g·plant-1·d-1 and 1.77 g·plant-1·d-1 in 2016 and 2017 ,respectively ,and V mean of nitrogen accumulation was the same as 0.04 g·plant-1·d-1 in two years .An enhance‐ment of the accumulation rate of dry matter and nitrogen w as observed in the w hole grow th stages with N fertilization , and the amount of dry matter and nitrogen accumulation were also increased at each stage.With the increase of N appli‐cation rate ,duration time for gradual increase ( Tgradual ) was steadily shortened ,but duration time for fast increase (Tfast ) was continually prolonged ,and Tgradual were shortened by 8 d and 9 d in 2016 and 7 d and 8 d in 2017 respective‐ ly ,w hile Tfast were prolonged by 5 d and 6 d in 2016 and 5 d and 4 d in 2017 for dry matter and nitrogen accumulation respectively .M oreover ,the highest fruit yield was observed in the treatment of N application rate as 300 kg·hm -2 in 2016 and 270 kg·hm -2 in 2017 .T he fruits yield per plant of tomato in N fertilizer treatments were significantly higher than that in non-N treatment in both two years (P<0 .05).[Conclusion] T he results indicated that the moderate a‐mount of nitrogen application can promote the accumulation rate and the content of dry matter and nitrogen accumula‐tion ,optimize the dynamic coordination ,and ultimately is conducive to material accumulation and fruit production . Suitable nitrogen fertilizer rate should be determined according to the soil fertility level.关键词
