摘要

Abstract

Dairy cows are cold?tolerant and heat?fear animals. When the ambient temperature in summer is be?yond their threshold, the cows will be under heat stress situation. Heat stress has adverse effects on the per?formance, antioxidant capacity, immune mechanism, endocrine and metabolism of dairy cows, which is a ma?jor problem that hinders the sustainable development of the dairy industry. In recent years, plant extracts have been widely used as feed additives with both nutritional and health care properties. As a plant extract, plant fla?vonoids have the advantages of improving livestock performance and antioxidant capacity, enhancing immunity and anti?inflammatory ability, and regulating body metabolism. Therefore, many of the effects of plant fla?vonoids can improve effectively cows’ heat stress. In this paper, we reviewed the effects of heat stress on per?formance, antioxidant capacity, immune mechanism, endocrine and metabolism of dairy cows, we also sum?marized recent studies on the use of plant flavonoids as improving heat stress in ruminants, in order to provide theoretical knowledge for in?depth research to alleviate heat stress in dairy cows.[ Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition, 2019, 31(8) :3490?3495]
