Effects of Dietary Essential Fatty Acid Composition on Growth Performance and Serum Biochemical Indices of Finishing Pigs

Abstract
This experiment studied the effects of dietary linoleic acid to α?linolenic acid ratio ( LA/ALA) on growth performance and serum biochemical indices of finishing pig. Ninety Duroc×Landrace×Yorkshire cross?bred finishing pigs with an average initial body weight of around 70 kg were divided randomly into 6 groups of 15 pigs (5 replicates in each group, 3 pigs per replicate). Dietary LA/ALA of 32∶1, 22∶1, 13∶1, 9∶1, 6∶1 and 3∶1 were obtained by replacing corm oil with the same amount of linseed oil, respectively. The results showed as follows: 1) with the decreasing of dietary LA/ALA, average daily gain ( ADG) and average daily feed intake ( ADFI) of finishing pigs increased first and then decreased ( P<0.05) , and 13∶1 and 9∶1 groups were the highest,respectively; while feed/gain was the lowest in 6∶1 group, and significantly lower than that in other groups ( P<0.05).2) The dietary LA/ALA of 3∶1 significantly increased serum triglyceride content ( P<0.05 ) and high density lipoprotein cholesterol ( HDL?C)/low density lipoprotein cholesterol ( LDL?C) in?creased with the decreasing of dietary LA/ALA ( P<0.05). Serum total cholesterol, HDL?C and LDL?C con?tents had no significant difference among groups ( P>0.05). 3) Serum immuneglobulin M content significantly increased with the decreasing of dietary LA/ALA ( P<0.05). Serum lysozyme activity was the highest in 13∶1 group, and significantly higher than that in 32∶1, 6∶1 and 3∶1 groups ( P<0.05). Serum interleukin ( IL)?2 and IL?6 contents had no significant difference among groups ( P>0.05). In conclusion, reducing dietary LA/ALA can improve growth performance, lipid metabolism and immune function of finishing pigs to a certain ex?tent.[ Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition, 2019, 31(8) :3543?3550]关键词
