Abstract

Chicoric acid is one active phenolic acid component of natural herbal medicine Echinacea purpurea, and this study set out to investigate the new isolation and purification method of chicoric acid from Echinacea purpurea root. The chicoric acid monomer was isolated and purified by the sephadex gel LH?20 column which eluted by 80%, 60%, 40% methanol after extracted by ultrasonic extraction from Echinacea purpurea root powder. For the preparation of molecularly imprinted polymer of chicoric acid, the purified chicoric acid mono?mer above was used as the template molecule with the 4?vinylpyridine and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate to be functional monomer and crosslinker, respectively, and the Echinacea purpurea root powder was enrichment purified by the molecularly imprinted polymer. The results showed that after sephadex gel LH?20 column sepa?rated and purified, the chicoric acid content was 90.22% by high performance liquid chromatography. After en?richment purified by the molecularly imprinted polymer of Echinacea purpurea root powder, the cichoric acid and caffeic acid could simultaneous enrichment which was with the same mother nucleus structure. In conclu?sion, this method can used for the isolation and purification of chicoric acid from echinacea purpurea root and its molecularly imprinted polymer preparation.[ Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition, 2019, 31 ( 8 ) :3914?3920]
