Abstract

Application of axisymmetric Fourier elements in ANSYS software to the strength and vibration calculation of aircraft engine casing with axisymmetric feature is studied. By setting the reinforcing bars in the circumferentially expanded surface of the Fourier elements, the axisymmetric Fourier elements are applicable to dealing with the stress and vibration problems of the aircraft engine casing which is basically axisymmetric but locally asymmetric. Results show that compared with 3D solid element model, the axisymmetric Fourier elements can effectively reduce the computer time for aircraft engine casing analysis with the accuracy guaranteed. Furthermore, using this method can obtain the uneven distribution of stress and deflection along the circumferential edge and the vibration analysis results of the engine casing, which cannot be obtained by the traditional axisymmetric finite element analysis of the aircraft engine casing.
