Abstract

The viscosity of shear thickening fluid increases rapidly with the increase of shear rate and the shear thickening fluid damper has an important application potential in shock protection equipment. In this paper, the model of shear thickening fluid is described based on piecewise power-low function and the model of damper is established based on Fluent to analyze the damping force characteristics of the shear thickening fluid damper. The influence of the rheological parameters on the damping force is obtained. The model of nonlinear single-freedom system based on the shear thickening fluid damper is established to obtain the influence of the characteristic parameters of the damping force on the shock response of the system. The research results can be used to guide the material design of the shear thickening fluid.
