Growth and Development of Muscle in Animals Controlled by Intestinal Microbes
摘要
Abstract
The microbes inhabited the gastrointestinal tract form a stable commensal relationship with their host. The colonization, reproduction and nutrient requirement of the intestinal microbes are affected by the physiolog?ical homeostasis of the host, as such, composition and diversity of the intestinal microbes are undulated to a?dapt the changes of external and internal environment of the host. In turn, the microbes participate in the host’ signaling transmission, nutritional metabolism, immune and organ functions via the intestinal nervous system and the peripheral circulatory system directly or indirectly. All the growth, development and metabolism of skeletal muscle play an important role in maintaining of energy homeostasis and body growth. Additionally, growth and status of muscle determine the meat production capacity and meat quality. At present, a large num?ber of studies have shown that intestinal microbes are related to the regulation of growth and functions of muscle tissue. A bidirectional communication network between intestinal microbes and skeletal muscle, so?called " in?testinal?muscle axis" , have been proposed by recent studies. In this paper, we have reviewed the recent re?search works that focus on the effects and regulations of intestinal microbes on the growth, development, dis?ease, and metabolism of muscle in humans and animals. These studies helped us with better understanding the deep relationship between the intestinal microbes and muscle.[ Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition, 2019, 31 (9) :3976?3982]关键词
