Effects of Dietary Concentrate Ratios on Slaughter Performance and Meat Quality in Sheep and Its Mechanisms

Abstract
Forages are the primary source of nutrients for ruminant animal production, but in order to achieve a high production at the stall?fed level more supplementary feed is needed in the form of high energy?dense con?centrates. However, high?concentrate diet could affect negatively the health of sheep and nutritional meat quali?ty. This paper mainly reviewed effects of concentrate level on slaughter performance, meat quality, and several sheep genes related to intramuscular fat deposition, and the potential mechanisms were also reviewed, aiming to provide references for the application of concentrate in feed of sheep.[ Chinese Journal of Animal Nutri?tion, 2019, 31(10) :4450?4457]关键词
