摘要

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of different rearing methods on rumen fermenta?tion and blood parameters of Binglangjiang buffalo calves. A total of 42 healthy newborn calves were selected and randomly divided into 3 groups ( groupsⅠ,ⅡandⅢ) according to their birth date, and 14 individuals in each group with half males and half females. Calves were fed colostrum at 1 to 5 days of age, and those at 6 to 90 days in groups I and II were fed maternal milk of 3.5 and 4.5 kg/d per calf, respectively, and those in group Ⅲwere given milk replacer of 0.8 kg/d per calf ( diluted 1∶5 with water). The starters and the maize si?lage were provided at 6 and 15 days of age, respectively. The single?column feeding system was employed, and the weaning was performed at 90 days of age. The experimental period was 180 days. The rumen fluid and blood were collected at 5, 45, 90 and 180 days of age, respectively, for determination of rumen fluid volatile fatty acids (VFA) content, plasma biochemical indicators and serum hormone levels. The results showed as fol?lows: 1) before 60 days of age, average dry matter intake (ADMI) of starters in groupsⅠandⅢwas significantly higher than that in groupⅡ(P<0.05), at 61 to 90 days of age, groupⅠwas significantly higher than groupⅡ(P<0.05), but had no significant difference from groupⅢ(P>0.05), and at 91 to 180 days of age, there were no sig?nificant difference among groups (P>0.05); the ADMI of maize silage had no significant difference among groups during the whole experimental period (P>0.05).2) The pH and ammonia nitrogen (NH3?N) content in rumen flu?id of calves were not significantly different among groups (P>0.05), and all of them were in the normal range; at 90 days of age, the content of total VFA (TVFA) in groupsⅠandⅢwas significantly higher than that in groupⅡ(P<0.05), the content of acetic acid in groupⅡwas significantly higher than that in groupⅠwhile the content of propionic acid in groupⅠwas significantly higher than that in groupⅡ(P<0.05), but no significant difference was found for the other VFA contents (P>0.05), and neither was found for all VFA at 45 and 180 days of age ( P>0.05).3) The content of plasma triglyceride in groupsⅠandⅡwas significantly higher than that in groupⅢ(P<0.05) at 45 days of age; plasma albumin, triglyceride and total cholesterol contents in groupⅡwere significantly higher than those in groupⅢ(P<0.05) at 90 days of age.4) The serum triiodothyronine (T3) content in groupⅡwas significantly higher than that in groupⅢ(P<0.05) at 45 and 90 days of age, but the difference between the three groups at 180 days of age was not significant (P>0.05); the difference of serum thyroxine (T4) content was not significant among groups (P>0.05); the serum insulin (INS) content in groupⅡwas significantly higher than that in groupⅢat 90 days of age (P<0.05).It can be seen that different rearing methods only change the contents of acetic acid, propionic acid and TVFA contents in rumen fluid at 90 days of age, plasma triglyceride and serum T3 contents at 45 days of age, plasma albumin, triglyceride, total cholesterol, and serum T3 and INS contents at 90 days of age.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition, 2019, 31(10):4572?4581]
