Dietary Zinc Requirement of Juvenile Golden Pompano ( Trachinotus ovatus)

Abstract
This study was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary zinc contents on growth performance, body composition, antioxidant capacity and serum biochemical indexes of juvenile golden pompano ( Trachino?tus ovatus) , and to determine the zinc requirement of juvenile golden pompano. A total of 450 fish with an ini?tial body weight of (5.71±0.08) g were randomly assigned into 6 groups with 3 replicates per group and 25 fish per replicate. The fish were fed experimental diets with zinc sulfate monohydrate ( ZnSO4·H2O) as the zinc source for 8 weeks, which the dietary zinc contents were 38.1 ( not added zinc group), 47.8, 62.6, 73.2, 95.3 and 105.0 mg/kg, respectively. The results showed as follows: 1 ) the final body weight and weight gain rate of 62.6 to 105.0 mg/kg groups were significantly higher than those of not added zinc group ( P<0.05) , and the feed conversion ratio of 62.6 to 105.0 mg/kg groups was significantly lower than that of not added zinc group ( P<0.05). 2) The body crude ash content of fish of 47.8 to 105.0 mg/kg groups was significantly higher than that of not added zinc group ( P<0.05 ). 3 ) The serum total antioxidant capacity ( T?AOC) of 62.6 to 105.0 mg/kg groups was significantly higher than that of not added zinc group ( P<0.05) , and the serum superoxide dismutase ( SOD) activity of 62.6 to 105.0 mg/kg groups was significantly higher than that of not added zinc group and 47.8 mg/kg group ( P<0.05 ). 4 ) The liver malondialdehyde ( MDA) content of 47.8 to 105.0 mg/kg groups was significantly lower than that of not added zinc group ( P<0.05) , the liver copper, zinc?superoxide dismutase ( CuZn?SOD) activity of 62.6 to 105.0 mg/kg groups was significantly higher than that of not added zinc group and 47.8 mg/kg group ( P<0.05) , and the liver catalase ( CAT) activity of 73.2 to 105.0 mg/kg groups was significantly higher than that of not added zinc group ( P<0.05).5) The serum total protein ( TP) content of 73.2 mg/kg groups was significantly higher than that of not added zinc group ( P<0.05) , the serum albumin ( ALB) content of 62.6 mg/kg group was significantly higher than that of not added zinc group and 105.0 mg/kg groups ( P<0.05) , the serum alkaline phosphatase ( ALP) activity of 47.8 to 105.0 mg/kg group was significantly higher than that of not added zinc group ( P<0.05) , the serum high density lipoprotein cholesterol ( HDL?C) content of 62.6 to 105.0 mg/kg group was significant?ly higher than that of not added zinc group and 47.8 mg/kg group ( P<0.05). In conclusion, diets added zinc can improve the growth performance and serum biochemical indexes of juvenile golden pompano, and increase the body antioxidant capacity. Broken?line regression analysis based on the weight gain rate and liver CuZn?SOD activity indicate that the dietary zinc requirements for juvenile golden pompano are 57. 04 and 65.95 mg/kg, respectively.[ Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition, 2019, 31(10) :4602?4611]关键词
