Application of TMD in Multi-order Modal Vibration Control of a Simply Supported Box Girder

Abstract
The problem of effective control of the multi-order mode vibration response of a simply supported box-girder is studied. Firstly, the controlled mode is determined through modal analysis of the box girder structure. The optimal stiffness, optimal damping and optimal attaching position of the TMDs are obtained based on the TMD fixed-point theory and the identification method of equivalent quality for multi-DOF system. Then, through the harmonic response analysis of the box girder structure, the vibration-absorbing performance of the TMDs under different mass ratios is studied. Finally, based on the vehicle-track-bridge coupling dynamic model, the control effectiveness of the TMDs for the low-frequency vibration of the box girder structure under train-traveling load is discussed. The results show that the TMD can effectively absorb the low-frequency vibration energy near the vertical natural frequency of the box girder;the larger mass ratio of the TMD can lead to better vibration-absorbing performance of the TMD;the reasonable multi-mode modal TMD combination can effectively suppress the low-frequency vibrations of the box-girder under the dynamic load of the train and more effectively reduce the transmission of the bridge spring support forces to the lower pier.关键词
