Abstract

To avoid the damages to crews and devices caused by abnormal noise, modern ship building must meet low-level noise requirement. This paper develops an acoustic model for a 300 ton fishery administration ship built by Fujian Southeast Ship Building Co. Ltd., The acoustic cavity structure model of the ship is established based on statistical energy analysis (SEA). The VA one software for acoustic analysis is used to predict the noise level of each cabin of the ship. Further-more, the effects of the radiation noise and structural noise on the cabin noise level are studied to provide the guidelines for noise reduction. The simulation results indicate that controlling the radiation noise is more efficient than controlling the struc-ture noise for reducing the cabin noise level in the same frequency band. A same noise excitation has different effects on the cabin noise levels in different frequency bands. Before using the noise reduction measures, there are five cabins whose noise levels are beyond the permitted value for the fishery administration ship. The maximum value beyond the noise permission reaches 15.1 dB. To achieve the low-noise requirement of the fishery administration ship, some noise reduction setups are carried out, and the maximum noise reduction of the main cabins of the ship reaches 17.7 dB. The present study provides in-structive references for the noise reduction design of other types of ships and complex structures with multi-modal properties.
