摘要

Abstract

Because of the effects of manufacturing or working environments, cracks are often initiated and propagated in the surface of the gear teeth. And the effecting mechanism of cracks in different positions on modal frequencies of gear pairs is different. In this article, problems in the diagnosis of cracks in gear pairs was studied, the effects of crack positions on the modal frequencies of a gear pair were detected. Firstly, the analytical equation of modal frequencies for the gear pair was set up by considering the effects of fatigue cracks on the meshing stiffness of the gear pair. Then, the finite element mod-els of the gear pair with a root circle crack or a reference circle crack were set up by the ABAQUS code. Thereafter, the ef-fects of cracks with different crack parameters on modal frequencies of the gear pair were discussed. Results indicate that the changing of crack parameters can affect both the magnitudes and the variation trends of the modal frequencies of the gear pair. This conclusion can provide a support for diagnosis of cracks in gear pairs.
