Path and Practice of Low-Carbon Urban Renewal: A Case Study of Seven Communities in Shanghai

Abstract
The low-carbon renewal of communities, which focuses on the dual aspects of spatial and social development, is an important strategy to achieve the double goals of peak carbon and carbon neutrality. However, how to tap the opportunity of urban renewal and bring about the transformation of old residential areas remain to be seen. At present, some critical problems in the low-carbon renewal still remain, such as lack of information of the base scenario, systematic deficiency, and the methodological gap in quantifying parameters. The concepts and the relationship between community elements and carbon flow elements, and puts forward a system of strategies and processes of low-carbon renewal. The seven communities in Shanghai as an example, explains in detail the complete workflow of "status survey - carbon emission inventory - data analysis - strategy formulation -strategy implementation", and proposes a practical community low-carbon technology information system that can be constantly updated. The importance, difficulty, and carbon reduction effect of each technology is graded and evaluated in order to provide guidance for low-carbon community renewal.关键词
