Role of GM-CSF in inflammatory response during neurodegenerative diseases

Abstract
Neurodegenerative diseases are chronic progressive disorders that primarily affect the central nervous system(CNS).These diseases are characterized by the gradual loss of neuronal structure and function,closely associated with inflammatory processes.Inflammation within the central nervous system,referred to as neuroinflammation,is implicated in various neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease(AD),Parkinson's disease(PD),and multiple sclerosis(MS).GM-CSF,as a pro-inflammatory cytokine,plays a crucial role in the development of chronic inflammation and is believed to have wide-ranging effects on the occurrence and progression of central nervous system neurodegenerative diseases.This review summarizes the inflammatory response processes of GM-CSF in neurodegenerative diseases,providing clinical evidence for further exploration of its potential role in relevant therapies.Elucidating the molecular mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases will offer effective targets for combating inflammatory responses associated with neurodegenerative diseases.关键词
