Abstract

Due to the aging of the fine-bubble diffusers in the aeration systems of the biological reaction tank in a wastewater treatment plant(WWTP)in Qingdao,the decrease of oxygen transfer efficiency of the aeration system lead to the increase of operating unit consumption of the WWTP.Aiming to solve this problem,the renovation project of aeration tank fine-bubble aeration system is carried out in the WWTP.This paper describes the process and experience of the aeration system renovation project,summarizes the project experience,and compares the oxygen transfer efficiency and system operation energy consumption changes before and after the aeration system renovation,then compares the changes of oxygen transfer efficiency and energy consumption before and after the renovation.The results show that the average oxygen transfer rate of the fine-bubble aeration systems in the experimental corridor increases from 18.41%to 49.84%after the renovation.On the premise that the effluent quality meet the standard,compared with the old aeration system,the gas-water ratio and unit consumption of the new aeration system are reduced by 32.5%and 31.6%,respectively,and the energy consumption of the whole WWTP is reduced by more than 8.9%.The practice shows that for the stable operation,energy saving and the consumption reduction of WWTP,it is important to renewal the fine-bubble diffusers in time when the aeration systems reached its operating lifetime.
