Abstract

The effects of saline-alkali stress on seed germination and seedling growth of Vigna unguiculata'Minnan'were studied by Na2SO4,NaCl and NaHCO3 solutions with concentrations of 0(CK),0.4%,0.8%,1.2%,1.6%,2.0%and 2.4%.The germination rate,germination index and average germination time of Vigna unguiculata'Minnan'.were analyzed,as well as the changes of vigor index,radicle length and germ length of Vigna unguiculata'Minnan'.The results showed that the seed germination and seedling growth indexes under Na2SO4 and NaCl treatments decreased with the increase of salt solution concentration.Compared with CK,there was no significant difference in germination rate,germination potential and germination index when the concentration of Na2SO4 and NaCl solution was 0.4%,and there was significant difference in seed germination and seedling growth index when the concentration of salt solution was 0.80%~2.4%.The germination rate,germination potential,germination index,vigor index,radicle and germ length of Vigna unguiculata'Minnan'under NaHCO3 treatment increased first and then decreased with the increase of alkali solution concentration.When the concentration of NaHCO3 was 0.4%,the vigor index and the length of radicle and germ were significantly different from those of the control.According to the significant correlation between salt concentration and germination rate,the regression linear equation between them was established.The suitable salt concentrations of Na2SO4,NaCl and NaHCO3 for Vigna unguiculata'Minnan'were 0.79%,0.68%and 0.61%,the semi-lethal concentrations were 1.38%,1.23%and 1.28%,and the limit concentrations were 2.32%,2.12%and 2.35%,respectively.
