Abstract

To examine the effect of the fowl adenovirus(FAdV-4)infection on avian innate immune response,the mRNA expressions of DNA sensors and inflammatory cytokines in different tissues from 21-day-old specific-pathogen-free(SPF)chickens with FAdV-4 infection,including heart,liver,spleen,lung,kidney,crop,thymus,trachea,esophagus,proventriculus,gizzard,pancreas,bursa of Fabricius,duodenum,jejunum,ileum,cecum,rectum,testis and brain,were examined by quantitative real-time PCR(qRT-PCR).Our data show that mRNA expressions of DNA sensors and down stream inflammatory cytokines were enhanced in most tissues in FAdV-4-infected chickens as compared to that of uninfected controls,especially in the heart and liver.The liver from chickens with FAdV-4 infection exhibited the highest level of viral replication as demonstrated by viral hexon mRNA expression in all tissues.These find-ings indicate that innate immune response to FAdV-4 infection differs in different tissues.These re-sults may provide reference for further research on the pathogenesis of FAdV-4 infection and the host innate immune response to FAdV-4.
