Abstract
Li Jieren has been influenced by the folk culture of Dragon Gate Formation in Sichuan since childhood,and is familiar with it.In the novel Ripple on Stagnant Water,Li Jieren vividly depicts the specific process of Dragon Gate Formation,and also shows readers how the destiny of the main characters is affected by it.In addition,Li Jieren also incorporates the narrative technique of setting up a Dragon Gate Formation into the writing of Ripple on Stagnant Water.With the tone of the storyteller,the extremely graphic portrayal,the free interspersed narration,the humorous and exaggerated language and the Sichuan dialect,Ripple on Stagnant Water is illustrated in a manner of Dragon Gate Formation.Li Jieren appreciates the culture of Dragon Gate Formation,but also perceives its defects.Therefore in the writing of Ripple on Stagnant Water,he avoids the defects through the well-organized narrative and characterized descriptions,even reflects on the personality flaw brought about by the culture in further.However,this writing style still brings limitations to Ripple on Stagnant Water,which is mainly manifested in the detail description deviating from the theme,the fragmented narration of history and the lack of transcendent thinking.关键词
