Abstract

The rocky mountainous area is extremely prone to flooding disasters when it is subjected to heavy rainfall due to the special topographical features.Multiple disaster sites distributed widely and disaster occurred abruptly,which poses a great threat to local production and life.In order to determine the area rainfall threshold which may cause flood disaster in the rocky mountainous area,based on the survey form of waterlogging prone areas in Nandan County,the historical rainfall data of flooding areas were collected and analyzed.By use of DEM data,global satel-lite map and GIS software,the authors plot the geographical spatial distribution of flood hazard points in Nandan County,find out the correlation between the area rainfall of each flood area and that of corresponding catchment ar-ea at different time periods,and analyze the rainfall threshold that may lead to disaster.According to the short-term and imminent meteorological forecasts and combined with the rainfall threshold of different periods,the flood disas-ter warning information can be released in advance and corresponding countermeasures can be taken to reduce di-saster losses.
