Abstract

This research was conducted on isotactic polypropylene(iPP)as the base and study the effects of nucleating agents,atactic polypropylene(PPR),ethylene-butadiene copolymer(POE),and styrene-ethylene-butadiene-styrene block copolymer(SEBS)on iPP's optical and mechanical properties.The results show that transparent nucleating agents can reduce the haze of iPP;PPR can improve the optical properties of iPP,but the mechanical properties decrease significantly;POE elastomer can toughen iPP but significantly affects its optical properties,with the transmittance of iPP dropping from 75%to 55%when 5%POE is added.The SEBS elastomer can simultaneously improve the transmittance and toughness of iPP.When 25%SEBS is added,the notched impact strength of the simply supported beam can reach 30 kJ/m2,and the transmittance of the 3mm plate is 78%.At the same time,adding PPR can further enhance the compatibility of SEBS and iPP,reduce light scattering and refraction within the polymer,and achieve a light transmittance of 80%at a thickness of 3 mm.
