Abstract

In order to study the effect of polyethylene(PE)on the performance of rubber powder modified asphalt and its mixture road performance,the conventional performance of PE/rubber powder modified asphalt was analyzed through three major indicators,and PE dosage on the high-temperature and low-temperature rheological properties of rubber powder modified asphalt were analyzed through DSR and BBR tests.The high-temperature,low-temperature and water stability of PE/rubber powder modified asphalt mixture were studied using rutting test,low-temperature small beam bending test,immersion Marshall test,and freeze-thaw splitting test.The experimental results show that adding PE can increase the softening point and reduce the penetration,but it will reduce the ductility;Adding PE can improve the high-temperature rheological properties of rubber powder modified asphalt,but at the same time reduce the low-temperature rheological properties;PE can improve the high-temperature resistance to rutting,permanent deformation,water damage,and low-temperature crack resistance of rubber powder modified asphalt mixture.However,the low-temperature performance is contrary to the conclusions of asphalt ductility and BBR tests,and further research is needed.
