Abstract

The geographical environment of EHV transmission lines is complex,which is easily affected by wind,icing and other natural factors,especially wind flashover faults may occur in strong wind weather,which poses a great threat to the safe and stable operation of transmission lines.In view of a 500 kV transmission line wind bias flashover fault occurred in Hubei Province,this paper summarizes the causes of the fault by analyzing the structure of the transmission tower,the actual weather data and the field fault condition,so as to provide reference for the formulation of line rectification measures.It is calculated that the actual swing angle of the insulator string of the line is 53.3°under the original design weather conditions,which is less than the allowable swing angle of 54.58°.During the fault,the wind deflection angle under the short-term wind speed of 31.8 m/s exceeds the allowable swing angle,resulting in the electrical gap does not meet the safe distance,resulting in the phenomenon of wind bias discharge.
