The Impact of Population Ageing and Artificial Intelligence on Industrial Structure Upgrading

Abstract
Based on the regional balanced panel data of 31 provinces(municipalities)in China from 2009 to 2020,the study applies the moderating effect model to verify the moderating role of AI between population aging and industrial structure upgrading,and uses AI as a threshold variable to study the heterogeneous effects of population aging on industrial structure upgrading under different AI levels.Meanwhile,the local and spatial spillover effects of population aging and AI on industrial structure upgrading are explored by constructing the Spatial Durbin Model(SDM).The results show that AI can significantly regulate the negative impact of population aging on industrial structure upgrading;with the improvement of AI level,the impact of population aging on industrial structure upgrading gradually changes from constraints to facilitation,and shows a trend of gradual enhancement;population aging has a significant inhibitory effect on the upgrading of the local industrial structure,while AI plays a positive role in the upgrading of the industrial structure of the region and generates obvious industrial structure upgrading at the same time.AI plays a positive role in the upgrading of local industrial structure,and at the same time generates obvious spillover effects of industrial structure upgrading.关键词
