Effects of Cold Storage on the Fitness of Anagrus nilaparvatae Pang and Wang(Hymenoptera:Mymaridae)

Abstract
Anagrus nilaparvatae is an important parasitoid of rice planthopper eggs with strong controlling effects on planthoppers.The suitable developmental stage for low temperature storage and the low temperatures and the duration of low-temperature storage for Anagrus nilaparvatae were investigated using wheat seedlings as the oviposition substrates and Laodelphax striatellus as the hosts for A.nilaparvatae stored at 5℃―12℃.The results showed that some eggs of A.nilaparvatae did not hatch normally after low-temperature storage and egg is not suitable for cold storage.When A.nilaparvatae were stored at the larval stage,the emergence rate and the lifespan of resulting adults decreased with increasing storage temperature and prolonged storage time,with no significant difference between different instars.There was no effect of storage temperature on the sex ratio and progeny number.The emergence at 11℃was the least affected by storage time,with an average rate of over 80.00%after 20 days of storage,which was not significantly different from the control group.The effects of cold storage at the pupal stage on emergence rate,sex ratio,lifespan,and progeny number were similar to those of storage at the larval stage,with 11℃being the most effective storage temperature.The effects of low temperature and storage time on the cryptoeclosion stage and adult stage were also significant and thus these stages were not suitable for cold storage.Therefore,this study suggests that the larval and pupal stages are the most suitable stages for cold storage of A.nilaparvatae,and the recommended cold storage temperature is 11℃.关键词
