Repellent Activity of Allicin against Dermanyssus gallinae

Abstract
To investigate the repellent effect and effective duration of allicin against Dermanyssus gallinae,this study conducted an in vitro test using the filter paper method.Solutions of allicin at concentrations of 0.5,1.0,1.5,2.0,3.0,and 4.0 mg/mL were tested for their repellent effects against Dermanyssus gallinae,and a repellent activity curve was plotted.Additionally,0.5%,1.0%,and 3.0%allicin emulsion in water and a long-acting repellent were used as treatment groups.While OFF mosquito repellent and 1.0%IR3535 long-acting repellent were used as control groups,and distilled water was used as a blank control group.The repellent rates were measured every 2 days within 14 days to compare different concentrations and formulations of allicin,and the repellent rate changing curve was drawn for differential analysis.The results showed that the half maximal repellence concentration(RC50)and Maximal repellence concentration(RC100)of allicin solution were 1.98 and 3.74 mg/mL,respectively.With the increase in allicin concentration,the repellent rate increased,and the effective duration prolonged.The repellent effect of 3.0%allicin emulsion in water was superior to that of 0.5%and 1.0%allicin emulsions in water within 0-4 days,while the repellent effect of 1.0%and 3.0%allicin long-lasting repellent was better than that of 0.5%allicin long-lasting repellent within 0-8 days.The repellent effect of allicin long-lasting repellent was superior to that of the same concentration allicin emulsion in water within the same time frame.Compared with commercial repellents,1.0%and 3.0%allicin long-lasting repellents had better repellent effects,and the effective duration of 3.0%allicin long-lasting repellent was up to 8 days.These results indicate that allicin has a repellent effect against Dermanyssus gallinae,and the 3.0%allicin long-acting repellent is particularly effective.关键词
