Development Process Analysis on Soil Mechanics Based on Scientific Problems and Research Paradigms
摘要
Abstract
The development of soil mechanics has experienced a long history with many documents and records.However,there is no consensus among the geotechnical engineering community regarding the division of the historical stages of soil mechanics development.A brief overview of the historical development of soil mechanics is provided and the stages of development as proposed by some scholars are summarized.From the perspective of understanding on three scientific issues related to soil,namely strength,permeability and deformation,the development of soil mechanics as a discipline is recognized.It is suggested that the development can be divided into three stages:the embryonic stage,classical soil mechanics stage and modern soil mechanics stage,corresponding to three research paradigms of experimental and observation-orientated,theoretical analysis-orientated and computational simulation-orientated paradigms,respectively.关键词
