Effect of affiliate stigma on parent—child relationship of parents of children with ASD:The mediating role of resilience and the moderating role of home chaos

Abstract
Objective:To investigate the impact of affiliate stigma on parent—child relationship,and explore the mediating effect of resilience and the moderator effect of home chaos.Methods:A total of 890 parents of children with autism completed Affiliate Stigma Scale,the Chinese version of Parent—Child Relationship Scale,the Chinese ver-sion of Resilience Scale,and the Chinese version of CHAOS Scale.Results:①Affiliate stigma was significantly posi-tively associated with home chaos(r=0.339,P＜0.001),significantly negatively associated with resilience(r=-0.200,P＜0.001),and significantly negatively associated with parent—child relationship(r=-0.273,P＜0.001);②Affiliate stigma of parents of children with autism significantly and negatively predicted parent—child relationship(β=-0.12,P＜0.001);③The resilience of parents of children with ASD played a partially mediating role between affil-iate stigma and parent—child relationship;④Home chaos moderated the direct effect of affiliate stigma on parent—child relationship.Specifically,the impact of affiliate stigma on parent—child relationship was more obvious at low home chaos level.Conclusion:The affiliate stigma with parents of autistic children has a significant negative impact on parent—child relationship.Enhancing psychological resilience and reducing home chaos are important ways to reduce the negative impact.关键词
